"Ottawa, Pre-mixed" (sans comma) was the name of the company my dad started working for in the fall of 1954 — the job posting that brought us to this city.

I dedicate this blog to the memory of my father, who exposed me to Mack trucks, crushed stone and cement dust. My thanks also to Julius Knipl, whose "real estate photography" intrigued me for decades before I decided to try my own hand at it.
