The concrete block to the left of center, middle distant, is the brutalist-style, 11-storey Chateau Cartier at 60 Mcleod, built in 1976 by Don Mills-based Deltan Realty.

The site was originally that of a 2-storey brick public school facing onto Cartier at #115. Sod-turning for the "Cartier Street School" was announced in late May 1905. The school stood until at least 1965 (aerial photos). Prior to domestic construction, the area was a rail and lumber yard.
